TDWCC Committees

We invite all members to join one of the TDWCC committees.  As a member of a committee you can play an active role or just work on small projects here and there, depending on your schedule and availability.  We have something for everyone!

Please review the committees below and e-mail the Chair of the committee you would like to join.  If you would like to be on a committee but do not have a preference (happy to help wherever), please e-mail TDWCC President Barb Walters at president@tdwcc.org.

Please note that some of the tasks are handled by the Chairs while others are handled by the committee as a whole.  Once you join a committee the Chair will work with you to assign you responsibilities based on the time you have available.

Membership Committee

Chair:  Lynn Wolfe     membership@tdwcc.org

  • Inform people about TDWCC and how they can join.  At the beginning of each year conduct a membership drive.
  • Ensure membership brochures are available at TDWCC meetings and events, at the DPCC office, and at various community activities.
  • Process membership applications.
  • Welcome new members and stay in touch with all members throughout the year.
  • Handle check-in at monthly meetings.

Programs Committee

Chair:  Prissy Wisnewski     programs@tdwcc.org

  • Plan the speakers for the TDWCC monthly meetings.
  • Invite speakers, confirm their attendance for a particular month, provide them with information about TDWCC, act as their main contact, and give the Board and Communications Committee details for promoting the speaker.
  • At each meeting, greet the speaker, introduce them (or arrange for someone else to do the introduction), and present them with a thank you gift afterwards.
  • Organize people to bring refreshments to monthly meetings.

Get Out The Vote (GOTV) Committee

Co-chairs:  Meredith Fisherman and Kelley Van Auken     gotv@tdwcc.org

  • Plan and coordinate GOTV activities, such as voter registration, block walking, and phone banking.
  • Assist with various planning tasks, such as volunteer recruitment, assembling literature packets, securing voter registration locations, etc.
  • Supervise a GOTV activity – act as the main contact for a phone bank or block walk, welcoming and training volunteers, answering questions, and collecting data.
  • Volunteer at a GOTV activity.  Note:  you do not have to be on the GOTV Committee to volunteer for an activity, but we hope members of the committee will volunteer as well.

Fundraising Committee

Chair:  Kelley Van Auken (Temporary)     contributions@tdwcc.org

If you are interested in being trained to take over as Fundraising Chair or Co-Chair with another person, e-mail President Barb Walters at president@tdwcc.org.

  • Plan and execute fundraising activities, including an annual dinner, to ensure TDWCC has the resources it needs to meet its goals.
  • Assist the Membership Committee with the membership drive.
  • Receive all donations (except for membership).  Pass along money to Treasurer and donation information to Database Manager.

Database Manager/Tech Support

Chair:  Kelly Drill     database@tdwcc.org

  • Maintain the TDWCC database.  Enter all donations in the database, update contact info, add people, enter participation in activities, etc.
  • Use database to produce donation reports for Treasurer and Thank You letters for President.
  • Provide Board members with information from the database as requested.
  • Maintain TDWCC e-mailing system.
  • Maintain TDWCC phone system.
  • Assist various chairs with adding content to website as needed.

Events/Community Involvement Committee

Chair:  Vacant     events@tdwcc.org

If you are interested in being the Chair or Co-Chair with another person, please e-mail President Barb Walters at president@tdwcc.org.

  • Plan and execute periodic social events, such as debate watching parties, dinners, etc.
  • Coordinate the involvement of TDWCC in community events, such as parades, the Plano Balloon festival, etc.

Communications Committee

Co-chairs:  Ilene Simerka and Jeanne Rubin     communications@tdwcc.org

  • Send press releases about TDWCC activities.
  • Form relationships with the press and try to get them to write articles about TDWCC.
  • Maintain and continuously update the TDWCC website.  The website is very user friendly and committee members can easily be trained to update it.  You do not need technical experience.
  • Create brochures, flyers, and other printed materials in coordination with other TDWCC committees.
